Uzbek robe trim

Cross stitch embroidered robe trim. Silk, cotton, traditional dyes backed with ikat. Central Asia. Late 19th. century. Cm. 108 x 9 (3’6” x 4”). Very good condition.Ex David Sorgato ex Alberto Levi.
Robe trim made in Kaitab or Sharisabz for the front edges of robes and for the collars of women' s dresses were tacked lightly to garments and removed for washing. The repeating pattern of twelve stylized bigger scorpions each including a smaller one is rendered in contrasting colors.
