Laddak woman’s shawl

Woman's shawl. Wool traditional dyes. Zangstar region. Laddak. First half 20th. century. Very good condition. Cm. 80 x 93 (2'7" x 3'1").
Handspun wool, possibly sheep wool mixed with yak wool, dyed a dark blue-black color with beautiful tye-die circles and x’s in yellow, red, blue and green. The Zanskari women wear the shawl draped over the shoulders and tied around the neck. The shawl is warm and substantial for the harsh Himalayan winters. SOLD
